Who am I
Welcome
My name is Tani Hamagishi-Allen and I created Ignite Pilates & Yoga as a space to connect. I’ve been teaching amidst the backdrop of the Whistler mountains for over a decade - I am fueled by the sun, nourished by the water and inspired by the landscape around me.
My path as a movement teacher started in Pilates. Through the years, I have completed comprehensive apparatus and mat training in both contemporary and classical certification schools. I have attended conferences and had the privilege of practicing with world renowned instructors. This training background provides me with a diverse picture of the Pilates system. One that I wish to extend to my students in each session.
Yoga and sound bathing, in comparison, carry an appreciation that speaks to the profound balance and support it can provide to the nervous system. I’ve struggled with anxiety and stress. The benefits of a mindfulness practice create a framework for comfort and ease. Utilizing movement rhythm that slows heart rate combined with sound sensation that relaxes the mind, I delve into an experience that goes beyond the physical body. For me, yoga and sound allow for a sacred space to find quiet in the mind and heighten awareness to the true harmony of oneself.
Amidst these varied approaches to movement and stillness, my goal is always the same: to establish a language that unites and enriches the journey of balance. I pride myself on having a background that is diverse to create an atmosphere for empowerment and peace in every session.
